Meet Julia Sparkman! Julia is an animal-loving, cayenne pepper aficionado obsessed with being outdoors. She is a yoga teacher, facilitator, writer, and volunteer located in idyllic Cardiff by the Sea, California. As an avid traveler, always hungry to learn, Julia seeks out a daily adventure — to grow and stay inspired.
Julia is the Creator of Full Circle and Spark Series. Full Circle — a space for truth, connection, and evolution — is a workshop for women centered on yoga, meditation, reflective journaling, and sharing. Spark Series is a one-on-one mentorship program for anyone seeking a spark to ignite their personal growth.
Using the darkness of her past and the light of the present, Julia strives to inspire others to believe everything is possible — and, to help them make the impossible happen.
What rocks your bliss?
Currently, a balanced life that includes time for meaningful, purpose-filled work and love, adventure, good food, movement, and meditation.
Describe your perfect day.
At home, I wake up early and rested to cuddle with Alex and our puppy, Mowgli. Mowgli and I cuddle hard for thirty minutes (I’m the big spoon, he’s the little spoon), Alex rests next to us. Shortly after getting out of bed, we feed Mowgli and drink hot water with lemon as the sun comes up. Then, I do a short yoga practice and a twenty minute meditation before we eat breakfast on our patio. Once we are full, we had straight to a hike in the middle of no where, Alex and I are the only ones on the trail. At some point during the day I will write, take a yoga class with one of my teachers, surf, eat at The Taco Stand, have a meaningful conversation, and walk Mowgli. I magically discover an ice cream that is incredibly good for you and it tastes amazing — it is full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. At night, I see my favorite friends for dinner at Cafe Gratitude and go to bed early after spending quality time cuddling with Alex and Mowgli.
When do you feel most creative and alive?
I feel most creative and alive when I am present.
For me, I am most present when I travel. When I am home and at work, it’s being present to my purpose — having an intention cultivates my creativity and makes me feel alive.
Share a huge goal you are rocking.
Right now, under the mentorship of Mary Beth, I am crafting a workshop series, Full Circle, and a mentorship platform, Spark Series. By the start of the new year, it’s my goal to pivot a majority of my time to facilitating workshops for women, mentorships, and writing.
If you could get on a plane right now, where are you going?
Indonesia: A month of opened-air yoga, nature exploration, massages, and warm water…. completely off the grid.
How do you handle setbacks?
In the past, I would handle setbacks by racing to “the next thing”. Today, I pause. I take time to feel and reflect. I leave space between what happened and what comes next.
How do you come home to yourself?
Practicing yoga. At home, outdoors, or in a group class, yoga always brings me home, no matter where I am.
What are 3 ways you rock the self LOVE?
+ Setting Boundaries: Relationships, schedules, roles.
+ Full Days Off: No teaching, no computer work for at least one full day a week.
+ Cuddling My Puppy: Frequently taking time to accept and receive unconditional love, daily.
