Meet Houston heart, yoga teacher, studio owner and mindful coach, Cristina Houston. Fresh off the plane from Kenya, Cristina is one thoughtful, service-based, and brilliant human being. She opened Mind Tribes in Houston, TX, a studio all about community and transformation and all are welcome. Read on about her bliss!

What rocks your bliss?

+ Raw, vulnerable conversations with my husband

+ Being of service, small or big, it always rocks my core

+ The mountains & the ocean, preferably together :)

+ Yoga, yoga, yoga. Both teaching + practicing. When I connect, rinse and renew or cause that in another, total bliss!

Describe your perfect day.

  

I wake up in a city that's surrounded by mountains and the ocean. It's crisp outside and I enjoy a few moments of solitude on a sun-kissed patio. Dan joins me for coffee and conversation before taking Pepper, our dog, to run on the beach. We spend mid-day taking a kick-ass, sweaty yoga class and  brunching at a local spot. The afternoon consists of phone calls with friends, a nap and prepping food for the evening. That night, our closest friends come over for a delicious home-cooked meal, blues & jazz music in the background, and the late hours are spent with lots of red wine, laughter and connection. 

  

Share a huge goal you are rocking.

Being an entrepreneur! I left lululemon 3 years ago to focus on our non-profit that was supposed to then be a 10-year goal, and this year launched our own yoga business and studio.

If you could get on a plane right now, where are you going?

New York. It's Fall and Dan (my husband) has never been (gasp, I know!) Add this city to what rocks my bliss! 

How do you handle setbacks?

Tricky question. Depends how involved my ego is :) What I'm realizing more and more is that I need to give myself time and space to feel whatever feelings are associated with the setback. I'm a doer and a fixer - but also fully know that slowing down to reflect can catapult me into a different, new and more kick ass future. Yoga, lots of breathing, journaling and people always, always help. 

3 ways you rock the self LOVE.

1. Meals with friends, preferably when someone is cooking. I freaking love connecting with my people over good food, good drinks and good conversation. 

2. Yoga, yoga and more yoga. I love several styles, and usually know which one will do the trick!

3. Alone time while treating myself - a latte, a pedicure or new jeans!
